Amongst many innovations for the Hospital & Health Care sector on show at the Naidex exhibition, will be Abianco’s ergonomic fully conformable walking stick handle. Originally developed in conjunction with the Health Design & Technology Institute (HDTI) at Coventry University, inventor Ian Jones’ innovative ideas were realised and prototyped at Amalgam. Our experience and wide range of available processes developed the concept using 3D CAD, rapid prototyping and vacuum cast silicon in a 20 Shore 00 gel. After a short development period in close collaboration with Ian we produced six fully functional handles with silicon gel over-moulded on to cores produced by Selective Laser Sintering (SLS). Outer surfaces were hand finished in an easy-clean gloss white with a choice of Leather, Neoprene or Alcantara sleeve applied over the gel grip area.
